the white house

Did you know that my K kiddos and their sweet momma and daddy live in the white house?

What, you didn't know that?!

We do.  Each time we say we're going home, especially weekdays leaving their grandma's house, the son exclaims that he wants to go to "the white house."    At the end of her dirt road, we make a right turn westward to our little country home.

Our very own little white house.

And yes, our house is white.

little bits of happiness

I  have to keep reminding myself that it's the little things in life that matter most.   It's those same little things that bring me so much happiness and joy in life.

  • finally fixing the kitchen sink
  • reading a book while keeping the little Ks' attention
  • ice cream
  • seeing the excitement in K1's face as she readies for color guard camp
  • some time in the kiddie pool
  • quiet time with the hubby
  • witnessing growth in K2's vocabulary
  • chai tea
  • a new coffee shop in town with a cute name
  • watching K3's excitement as we sang to the moon and watch lightning bugs
  • time with my sister and her granddaughter
  • "love you" from the kiddos

Ah, the little pieces of sunshine in my day!

sure sign of an addict

Have you ever seen a child addict in full-force action?  I witnessed two K kiddos in action this morning, working together to gang up on their momma.

K-girl saw me opening cabinets, checking inventory, as I prepared the weekly shopping list.  She kept saying, "I hungee [hungry]."  I just couldn't figure out what she could be hungry for since I was rummaging through the spice cupboard, so I put her on the counter so she could show me.

She showed me.

Then, we agreed she could have some after a diaper change.

After the change we enter the kitchen again, only to find the K-boy on the countertop holding the same item she was "hungee" for.   When we spotted him, he exclaimed, as holding the item, "you found me!"

Yep, we found him and the bottle of chocolate Magic Shell.

You see, my kiddos love ice cream and they really love it with that crispy, chocolatey goodness drizzled on top.  Love the stuff.

And yes, even at nine o'clock in the morning, they enjoyed their vanilla ice cream and chocolate magic shell.

Chocoholics, I swear.

go away

So, the sickies have run rampant in house the last couple of months.

I had my first, and hopefully last, bout with strep throat. Man, I never knew it'd knock me off my feet like it did. As if that wasn't bad enough, I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic and was covered in a rash from my chin to the tips of my toes.  And, if that weren't bad enough, everywhere that the rash was 'severe' is now peeling.

And, my hubby wanted to take me to the beach this weekend.   Oh yeah, that would've been a lovely sight to see a peeling beached whale covered in retro flowers. Ah, lovely, I tell ya.

Anyhow, back to the sickies.  Several days after my strep, the hubby was fortunate enough to receive it, despite our attempts not to pass germs.  [Have you ever tried not kissing your hubby every single day?!   Not fun.]

It all snowballed from there.

The hub recovered from strep just to be hit again.  A relapse.

Not much after that, the son was hit with fever and the stomach flu.  Two days of puke and stinky pants.   Whew.   A day later, the hubby was bit by the stomach bug, too, and is still trying to recover from the lingering pest.   Then, two days later, the seemingly health one in the bunch, the K-teen, woke up sick.

Ack.

I promise I won't breathe on you as I scream for this sick bug to get out of our house!

shakeeeeeeee bootie

The hubster was listening to iTunes this weekend, minding his own business while working on the computer, when enters K3, the sweet and youngest dear daughter.   She climbs atop her daddy's lap as she usually does to get a better view of the computer monitor or to fiddle in the desk drawer.  She then climbs onto the desktop to sit on the right-hand side, a spot she has dubbed her own only because her bottom has worn an impression on the desk.

I'm observing all of this from the kitchen.

Then, I really notice her because she is standing and wiggling around on the desk.

I walk in and say to her, "What do you think you're doing?", questioning why she was standing on the desk and wondering why the hubby hadn't stopped her.

Her reply ----- "I shakeeeeeeee me boooootie!"

Of course, I giggled.

a new month, a fresh start

June is going to be a good month, I just know it in my heart.

I need that breath of fresh air after having the family and myself sick during the past couple of months.  I need to respark my motivation to get things done around the house and for myself.  I need to rejuvinate my creativity.   I need to do it.

My short list of goals this month ----

scrappy
-- create five layouts each week
-- tidy up and organize scrap desk
-- finish family tree book
-- finish entry in circle journal and quit holding it hostage

household
-- fix kitchen sink [finally!]
-- pick master bedroom paint colors
-- make accessories for hall bath

personal
-- journal each day
-- drink more water, walk and weights
-- send written correspondence at least twice [no email letters!]
-- trip to the beach
-- make holiday gift list and start on a project

A fresh start.  A new beginning.

Aaaaaaaaaah, that feels good.

movin' on up

I'm staying put, but man, gas prices sure are skyrocketing quicker than I had ever imagined.   Prices this morning in the town east of the tiny one I reside was already $2.81 a gallon.  Two dollars and eighty-one cents per gallon of gasoline.   Soon, a gallon of gas will cost the same as a gallon of milk --- both essentials in our household.

Commuting 30 miles to and from work five days a week, times two since hubby and I don't normally carpool due to kids' activities and schedules, is gettin' really expensive.

Unbelievable.

Sigh.

the high-dollar smile

On March 9th, the K-girl had to have a dental procedure done.   A lot of stress, worry, a dose of anesthesia, some crying, some silver and nine-hundred buckaroos later, this is the sweetest smile.

Worth every hard-earned cent, too.

21 day challenge : day 05 and 06

I am slowly catching up with the weekend entries for the 21-day challenge.   I had hoped to stay caught up, but with all that the weekend entailed, it just was not possible.   I was making good use of my time ----

  • cleaned out the office drawer in the kitchen while making pancakes Saturday morning
  • cleaned off the pile of clutter and layouts from the kitchen counter
  • filed over 100 layouts / pages in sheet protectors and into albums
  • cleaned out kiddos' closets
  • cleaned out toybox that the lovely little miss dumped out in effort to help her momma [yeah, right!]
  • swept all the remaining leaves from the carport and decluttered that some
  • potted some herbs and plants from the neighbor
  • cleaned out storeroom
  • took down crib and put in storeroom
  • moved shelves in bedroom

Whew.  But, I did manage to work on some layouts and some of the art challenge entries.  Anyhow, here they are --- day 05 and 06.

powerful similarities

What does an acrylic stamp block with foam tape squares, a plastic drill, a paint stirrer, five colored crayons, a watch and an plastic foldable ruler have in common?

.

.

.

.

.

.

think really hard

.

.

.

.

.

harder

.

.

.

.

.

give up yet?

.

.

.

.

.

.

Yep, all of those can be found in the clutches of my dear son's hands or in his pockets, or both.

But the real answer to that question is ----- they are all Power Ranger related.

Didn't you know that?!

The son has an active imagination and his attention is set on Power Rangers these days.  It all revolves around those group of super heroes.   He is green, his older sister is red, younger sister is pink, his daddy is blue and I adorn in yellow.  And, we all have matching color crayons to prove it.   Really, we do.

Oh, the joys of raising a boy.
